5 Reasons You Need To Go To Indy’s Drive In!

tibbs

This weekend I went to Indy’s own Tibbs Drive In and was shocked at what I found. In what should have been a packed house for a Saturday night showing…there were plenty of empty spots for me to park! This is unacceptable Indianapolis. The Drive-In is a rare gem in American cinema this way, and if you need a reminder why, I have five reasons.

It’s Super Cheap

Going to the movies has gone from a “weekly thing” to once in awhile for most. Why? It might have something to do with the fact that if the wife and I go to a showing in a theater we have to be prepared to shell out forty dollars for tickets and snacks…FOR A FILM WE MAY NOT EVEN LIKE. I can’t even imagine the cost for an actual family to attend.

If you’re an adult traveling to Tibbs it’s ten bucks and six bucks for kids under 13. You’re also allowed to bring your own snacks so that’s even more money in your pocket!

Double Features

A ten dollar price tag for a movie is good enough for one film, but going to the drive-in is a two feature event! Typically they pair the films with interests as well…which means you won’t be watching a kids movie followed by the latest horror slasher. Plus on weekends there’s a third showing of the first film on each screen in case you want to mix and match your choices for the evening!

Drive-In’s Have Changed A Lot Over The Years

As I’ve noticed talking to a lot of people…a lot of the reason they don’t bother with Drive-In’s is a supposed lack of quality. Gone are the days of car hanging speakers! Tibbs has radio frequencies for you to tune in to, and digital projectors on all screens! I also have to commend them on the space given between poles as I never felt too close to the people watching around me!

It’s A Rare Thing To Have A Drive In

There are less than 350 drive in’s left in America. The fact that we even have one is incredible. A big part of this drop off came from the lack of theaters being able to adapt to modern theater projectors. Tibbs was lucky enough to be able to foot the bill, so GO ENJOY IT!

Colts Games

Yes…you can watch the boys in blue on the big screen! In fact they will be showing this Sunday night game! So go get a ticket now!
