New to town? Looking for something for family? Maybe just looking to shake things up? Here’s a list of 93.9 The Beat’s Top Picks for July 4th!
2015 Food Truck Firework Festival
This is where we will be at (and you’ll come say hi if you’re cool) and as far as big events in Indy are concerned…this…is…it.
20 of Indy’s finest Food Trucks, live music, and a clear view of the downtown fireworks from the Old National Centre. Ticket info and details can be found here.
Indianapolis Indians vs Louisville Mud Hens
So this game is supposedly sold out, but if you are a baseball fan, this is something you wanna find tickets for at any cost. A good old rivalry between two neighboring cities playing America’s favorite pass time? It doesn’t get more American than that…oh wait there’s a fireworks show too? Apparently it does!
The video above gives you a preview of what to expect…that kids reaction should tell you why you wanna be there.
Carmelfest
Going on all weekend long, Carmelfest has really come into it’s own in recent years as a stand out event 4th of July weekend! For those not wanting to battle downtown traffic or perhaps watch fireworks on a budget, check out their fireworks show on the 4th starting at 9:45pm. Full details on the fest can be found on their website here.
Fountain Square Music Festival
Going on all weekend in the Fountain Square district (go figure) this will be a must for any local music lovers.
In addition to the main stage acts performing all weekend long, many of the surrounding venues such as HiFi and Radio Radio will be hosting shows with even more acts to compliment this growing festival. Friday is free to attend so make sure to take advantage of that today and check out the lineup at their website here.
Running?
5k’s and fun runs aren’t something I equate with America’s independence…but hey if you’re down for it there’s plenty of runs going on this weekend!
Firecracker 6 Run/Walk (Market Square)
Patriot Run (Avon Township)
Carmelfest Freedom Run (Carmel High School)
4th Of July !Ole!
America is about celebrating all types, and for those looking for a south of the border flair on American tradition check out this event at St. Mary’s Catholic Church! Parking and admission are both free and you have a great location off New Jersey street to check out the downtown fireworks!
Latino and American food…games of chance…fireworks…sounds bueno to me! Check out their website!
4th of July Picnic (Mass Ave)
They had me at all you can eat fried chicken and biscuits. You also won’t be standing as picnic tables will guarantee you and your family a seat for this Indy tradition…a bit more on the pricy side in terms of other options on this list but with all the games and fun for the kids, well worth the cost. Check out their page here.
